on the creative...

i haven't been creating like i should...i know that i need to do it.
as i told my husband, i know that being creative is good for my soul.
but i woke up yesterday and made myself a promise that i would do something creative.
translation: use up my hoard of scrapbooking supplies!

i began to doubt whether i would be doing this or not.
in the morning i set out for my normal run--an easy 3.5-4 miles on the trail.
from the very beginning i couldn't find my stride.
i was being cognizant of my form, but man, the humidity was killer.
i just kept thinking that i would eventually shake it off due to the fact that i had
just run 3 times at the beach in killer humidity and heat.
still, it just didn't feel right. i kept wondering if someone had put a 20lb virtual
backpack on me before i left the house! it was that bad. that bad.
i ended up attempting to distract myself with songs (in my head since i am running
sans electronic devices these days), funny/lame/crazy fb updates like,
"i think my run was so lousy today because those crazy trees just wanted to EAT ME!"
 and here's the proof!

eventually, i knew i couldn't hold out on the run, but what i DID do was ad lib!!
it was too far back to keep running, but i was determined that i wasn't walking back to my car!!!
so, i did speed interval training! i knew i could handle bursts of speed with jog/walk rests in between.
so, i figured i still win!

my bonked feeling continued even when i got home and re-fueled and, honestly, i didn't return to
half human until almost 4:30 that afternoon.
i am assuming it is a fueling/nutrition/hydration issue, but not sure exactly how/what.
i eat clean--lean meats and veggies or nuts every 2-3 hours during the day.
drink only water with the exception of my morning coffee.
BUT i rarely eat/fuel prior to a run b/c it is such a short distance and i figure i have stores
to get me through. i am thinking not. maybe a few sport beans will get me through next time!

oh, why did i write this??? oh, yes...creating...

8.5x11 digital hybrid layout. the template was a freebie from Cathy Zielske

i added the polaroid vector from vol. 25

here's to hoping i have a lot more creativity left in me!!
the computer is awfully hard to come by in the summer months!
